Rain pelted onto the dry dust, thinly masking the sound of swift footsteps flying through wood and field. The shriek of a small child was soon muffled among others before the roar of clouuds above bellowed angrily to quiet all else, reminding those below what creatures provided their cover. More footsteps gathered to the first ones, long strides carrying them far and fast with their burdens back to where they came from.
Slowly, the horror of what was done in the night woke the homes affected. The clouuds departed and broke off, leaving wreckage soaked from the storm they brought with them as forlorn rumblings signaled their escape. Grey light from a white sun slowly bled through to dawn on another day of tears.
"Stolen! Ours child!" A mother cried out in grief, alerting those of the Symplan village who were fortunate enough to have families intact.
